Weekly pollen forecast and summary

 

Forecast to 17th May:  Pollen: Grass pollen at medium risk; Spores: Generally low.

Grass Pollen Count - Moderate

 Pollen forecast for grass with a moderate yellow pollen count.

Grass pollen from early-season species will reach moderate risk in Southern England, lowland South Wales and South & East Midlands. Symptoms will occur on dry days above 16°C in those people sensitive to these types.

Tree Pollen Count - Moderate

 Pollen forecast for trees with a moderate yellow pollen count.

Oak pollen is moderate from the Midlands to the North of England but low elsewhere. Birch pollen continues in the far north of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland at a moderate risk

Fungal Spore Levels - Moderate

Pollen forecast for spores with a moderate yellow pollen count.

Penicillium/aspergillus types continue to be airborne, as does Pleospora.

Weed Pollen Count - Low

Pollen forecast for weeds with a low green pollen count.

Weed pollen species including nettle, plantain and dock are in flower but the risk will remain low.

Daily pollen and spore forecasts are issued from mid-March to early October.

Daily pollen forecasts are featured in newspapers, on radio, on television and various web pages.

All the forecasts are based on information from the quality controlled data produced by the National Pollen Monitoring Network, combined with the information from weather forecasts, local vegetation and typography types and information about biological factors and the weather in the preseason period that influences the pollen count.
