Emma is part-time PhD student in the Three Counties School of Nursing & Midwifery, she also works at the ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë as a Senior Lecturer Advanced Clinical Practice. 

 

Emma’s main research interest is Type 1 diabetes. Her PhD research concerns the experience of developing diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) which is a life-threatening complication of Type 1 diabetes.  She is conducting a Phenomenological study to explore in depth via interviews what it is to experience DKA. 

 

Her supervisors are Dr Yvonne Thomas and Associate Professor Theresa Mitchell. 

 

Prior to commencing her PhD and working in Higher Education, Emma held a variety of roles in the NHS culminating working as a Matron specialising in Diabetes. She has also worked for the NHS Institute of Innovation & Improvement and West Midlands Strategic Health Authority implementing the Think Glucose program across England. 

 

Emma is also a member of staff at the ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë of Worcester.
